Bombtrack Hook EXT Rival AXS
The Hook EXT Rival AXS is a steel gravel adventure bike designed for riders who want a modern, precise, and composed off-road platform, without moving toward the more fast & light interpretation of carbon models. The Columbus Cromor frame delivers stable, natural, and confidence-inspiring handling as conditions get rough, while the full carbon fork lightens the front end and maintains the versatility needed for bags, accessories, and light touring setups.
The SRAM Rival AXS wireless drivetrain adds a more advanced dimension to the riding experience: clean, immediate, and consistent shifting, with reduced day-to-day complexity. The result is a more refined and contemporary Hook EXT, fully aligned with the platform’s core philosophy—real gravel, mixed-terrain routes, moderate loads, and confident handling when control matters more than outright speed.
Columbus Cromor double-butted steel frame built for durability, comfort and off-road stability.
Full-carbon fork with through-axle, rack/fender mounts and bag mounts, ideal for adventure setups.
SRAM Rival AXS wireless electronic shifting, 1×12, precise and ultra-reliable on any terrain.
Hydraulic disc brakes for confident stopping power on descents or loaded touring.
Tubeless-ready wheel compatibility and wide-tyre geometry for grip and comfort on rough surfaces.

Excellent versatility: performs on asphalt, gravel, technical sections and mixed routes.
Fully equipped mounting points for racks, fenders and bikepacking gear.

Short Description
The Hook EXT Rival AXS is a modern, high-performance gravel-adventure bike offering stability off-road, comfort over long distances and the precision of electronic shifting.
Ideal For
Technical gravel riding and rough dirt roads.
Long-distance mixed-surface routes.
Light-to-medium bikepacking.
Daily commuting on varied terrain.
Riders seeking a premium gravel platform with electronic shifting.
The Hook EXT Rival AXS provides valuable flexibility thanks to the difference between frame and fork clearances:
The frame fits up to 52 mm tyres in 27.5" mode.
In 700C (not original spec), the frame clearance is 40 mm.
The fork is significantly more permissive and accepts up to 57 mm.
This allows highly effective setups:
Mullet width: wider front tyre for greater traction and control on technical gravel.
Front traction bias (bikepacking-inspired): wide front tyre for stability, narrower rear tyre for efficiency and reduced frame rub – ideal for long mixed-terrain routes.
This adjustability is one of the Hook EXT’s strongest advantages in real-world use.

Frequently asked questions and answers about the Bombtrack Hook EXT Rival AXS
What kind of bike is the Hook EXT Rival AXS?
It is a steel adventure gravel bike with wireless electronic shifting. It is built for riders who want a modern Hook EXT with precise shifting and genuine confidence on gravel, rough tracks and mixed terrain.
What is the difference between the Hook EXT Rival AXS and the Hook EXT Apex Eagle?
The Rival AXS feels more modern and more refined in drivetrain use, with wireless shifting and a smoother mixed-terrain adventure character. The Apex Eagle remains simpler, more travel-first and more focused on steep climbs, rougher off-road use and mechanical simplicity.
What is the difference between the Hook EXT Rival AXS and the Hook EXT C Apex AXS?
The main difference is material and ride character. The steel Rival AXS feels calmer, more natural on rough ground and more relaxed with light to medium loads; the carbon C Apex AXS is lighter, quicker and more fast & light in spirit.
Does AXS really make sense on a Hook EXT?
Yes, especially for riders who use the bike often and want consistently clean, precise shifting. On an adventure platform like this, it adds day-to-day quality without changing the bike’s off-road identity.
Is it suitable for bikepacking?
Yes, especially in light or medium travel setups. The steel frame, adventure-ready fork and Hook EXT geometry make it very good for lighter trips and long rides across variable terrain.
27.5” or 700C on this model?
The bike is built around 27.5”, and that is where it expresses the more stable and off-road side of the platform. 700C (not original spec) can make sense in some faster configurations, but this Rival AXS is primarily an EXT focused on control, comfort and traction.
Who is the Hook EXT Rival AXS really for?
It suits riders looking for a premium but not extreme adventure gravel bike, with a steel frame, wireless shifting and a calmer, more versatile ride than a nervier or more purely performance-focused gravel bike.

¹ The bike size recommendation is intended as a general guideline to quickly narrow down options based on rider height. Proper bike fitting is a complex topic and should also consider other body measurements and factors. Since no two riders are identical, it is not possible to guarantee that these recommendations will be correct for everyone. The best way to determine your ideal size is to consult your Bombtrack dealer (info@bikejamming.it) or a professional bike fitter.
