The Crosso Mercator Saddle Bag is not the classic soft bikepacking saddle bag.
It is a system designed to eliminate one of the most annoying problems of this type of luggage: the pendulum effect while pedaling and on technical descents.
Thanks to its two separate elements (rigid harness + waterproof bag), the Mercator remains stable even when the terrain becomes rough or when riding out of the saddle.
More rigid than a rack, lighter than a classic bag.
It is a solution designed for people who really travel and want to rely on dependable equipment even thousands of kilometers from home.
A bag tested in real conditions
Before reaching the market, the Mercator was developed over four years and subjected to extremely demanding testing.
The prototype faced:
weeks on the famous “grattante” of Podlasie in Poland
hundreds of kilometers in the dust of the Australian Outback
The goal was simple: to create a bikepacking bag that would remain stable, durable, and reliable over the long term.
The result is a system designed to last through many seasons of intensive travel.
For this reason, Crosso offers:
2 years of standard warranty
3 additional years by registering the product in the Extended Warranty program
Absolute stability: goodbye pendulum effect
The main problem with traditional saddle bags is lateral oscillation when the bike vibrates or when riding out of the saddle.
The Mercator was designed specifically to eliminate this problem.
The structure uses:
stabilized rigid harness
DuraGrip anti-slip coating
structured shell that locks the bag to the seatpost
The result is a bag that remains steady and controllable even on the most technical terrain.
This allows you to focus on riding instead of on luggage swinging behind the saddle.
Modular system: simpler camp life
The Mercator uses a two-part system:
rigid harness fixed to the bike
removable 10-liter waterproof bag
When you arrive at camp, you do not need to remove the entire system.
You simply pull out the inner bag and take it directly into the tent or room, leaving the outer structure on the bike.
It is a simple detail but highly appreciated by riders traveling for many days.
Mud outside, dry inside.
Premium materials and “armor-class” construction
The Mercator combines several technical materials chosen for long-term durability.
Outer structure
Made of X-Pac®, an extremely strong and rigid laminated fabric also used in sailing and technical gear.
Abrasion zones
Reinforced with Cordura®, to withstand the rubbing typical of bikepacking.
Seatpost grip
DuraGrip coating, the technical equivalent of Hypalon, which prevents the bag from slipping.
Waterproof bag
The internal dry bag is made of high-frequency welded TPU Nylon, the same material used in the pockets of the Expert panniers.
This guarantees:
total waterproofness
protection against heavy rain
resistance even to brief immersion
Reinforced base and mudguard function
The lower part of the harness is reinforced with smooth rigid HDPE.
This element serves two functions:
it protects the bag from impacts and abrasion
it functions as an integrated mudguard
Mud does not remain trapped in the fabric and can be removed simply with water.
Details designed for people who really travel
The Mercator is full of small details that make a difference during a long trip.
Premium hardware
Woojin and Duraflex aluminum and nylon buckles, designed not to loosen under vibration.
Strap management
Velcro strap ends to secure excess webbing and prevent the straps from flapping while riding.
Adjustable capacity
The bag can be compressed to reduce volume when the load is smaller.
External loops
They make it easy to attach:
sandals
mug
wet jacket
small accessories
Market positioning
Within the bikepacking saddle bag segment, there are two main categories:
soft nylon bags
more expensive semi-rigid models
The Crosso Mercator offers a different solution:
modular harness + dry bag structure
technical materials such as X-Pac and Cordura
greater stability compared to soft bags
All this while maintaining a very competitive price compared to the most common modular systems on the market.

Why the Mercator stands out
Three elements really make the difference in real-world use:
Stabilized rigid harness
It eliminates the pendulum effect typical of soft saddle bags, improving bike stability and control.
Intelligent modular system
The waterproof bag slides out in a few seconds and can be taken directly into the tent or room.
Premium technical materials
The combination of X-Pac®, Cordura®, and welded TPU offers resistance, waterproofness, and long-term durability.
The Mercator is designed for riders who do not want to worry about their equipment during travel.
A stable, modular system built with premium materials, designed to accompany many seasons of bikepacking.

Why choose the Crosso Mercator
The Mercator is not designed for people who change equipment every season.
It is designed for riders looking for:
absolute stability while riding
high-end technical materials
modularity in load management
long-term durability
In other words, it is a bag designed for riders who consider bikepacking a serious journey and not just a weekend ride.
Compatibility and mounting advice
The Crosso Mercator Saddle Bag is designed to fit most bikes used for bikepacking and gravel touring.
Bike compatibility
The bag is compatible with:
standard aluminum or carbon seatposts
saddles with traditional rails
gravel bikes, MTBs, and adventure bikes
Thanks to the harness system with DuraGrip coating, the structure grips the seatpost firmly, preventing unwanted movement while riding.
To achieve maximum stability, it is recommended to:
leave at least 15–18 cm of space between saddle and tire
use seatposts without excessive setback
compress the inner bag when the load is reduced
Simple and quick installation
Installing the Mercator takes only a few minutes.
The harness is fixed to the saddle rails using the upper straps.
The DuraGrip band is tightened around the seatpost.
The 10 L waterproof bag is inserted into the harness and compressed with the straps.
Once installed, the harness can remain permanently on the bike, while the inner bag can be removed quickly when arriving at camp.
Bikejamming advice
To maintain optimal Mercator stability, it is useful to:
place the heaviest items in the most forward part of the bag
always compress the bag before setting off
limit the load to around 3 kg
This allows the bag to remain stable even on technical descents and fast dirt roads.
