Bombtrack Hook EXT SX Eagle
The Hook EXT SX Eagle is the most control-oriented model in the Hook EXT range, designed for riders tackling technical gravel, descents, and uneven terrain with greater confidence and intuitive handling. The flat handlebar significantly changes the bike’s behavior: more leverage, increased stability, and a ride feel much closer to MTB than traditional drop-bar gravel bikes.
The Columbus Cromor steel frame keeps the ride composed and predictable on rough ground, while the 27.5” wheels with high-volume tires enhance traction and comfort on more demanding surfaces. The SRAM SX Eagle 1×12 drivetrain completes the setup with simple operation and a gear range suited to steep climbs and slower, more technical terrain.
The result is a Hook EXT built less for outright speed and more for control: an ideal platform for technical gravel, light trails, and off-road bikepacking, where confidence matters more than absolute efficiency.

Frequently asked questions and answers about the Bombtrack Hook EXT SX Eagle
What kind of bike is the Hook EXT SX Eagle?
It’s a flat-bar adventure gravel bike designed to maximize control and confidence on technical terrain. Among the Hook EXT models, it’s the closest in feel to a mountain bike.
What is the difference between the Hook EXT SX Eagle and the other Hook EXT models?
The key difference is the cockpit. The flat bar completely changes the riding experience: more leverage, more control on descents and a more intuitive feel on rough terrain compared to drop-bar EXT models.
Is it suitable for riders coming from MTB?
Yes, it’s the most natural choice in the Hook EXT range for MTB riders. The position, handling and confidence on rough ground feel immediately familiar.
Can it be used for bikepacking?
Yes, especially for light to medium off-road bikepacking. The steel frame and mounting points support full setups, but its real strength is how it handles technical terrain.
Is it fast on road or smooth gravel?
That’s not its main focus. It can handle those conditions, but it’s built to perform when the terrain gets rough, not to maximize speed and efficiency.
What are the benefits of the SX Eagle 1x12 drivetrain?
It offers simplicity and a wide gear range, ideal for steep climbs, slow terrain and off-road riding where reliability matters more than shifting refinement.
Who is the Hook EXT SX Eagle really for?
It’s for riders who prioritize control, confidence and ease of handling on technical gravel, rough tracks and variable terrain, with a more intuitive setup than a traditional gravel bike.

¹ Size recommendations generally represent a rough guideline for quickly narrowing down the sizes from which to choose based on the body height. Bike fitting is a complex topic and other measurements and factors have to be accounted for as well. Since no two human bodys are exactly the same it is not possible to give a 100% correct advice for everyone. The best way to work out the correct size is to consult your Bombtrack dealer (info@bikejamming.it) or a professional bike fitter and have them determine the needed size.
