Intro

The Genesis Vagabond 10 in Bohemian Raspberry is the entry point to the new Vagabond generation: a radically updated platform designed for riders looking for a bike that can genuinely move beyond the boundaries of traditional gravel.

The new, longer, more stable, and slacker geometry completely changes the riding experience compared with previous versions: more front-end space, greater control on technical terrain, and a less compressed position over long distances.

The microSHIFT Sword 1x10 groupset, with MTB-derived gearing, completes a setup designed to handle loads, gradients, and demanding surfaces without compromise.

Performance and on-road behaviour

The Vagabond 10 is not a gravel bike in the classic sense.

The 2.35” tyres, geometry with a slack 69° head angle, and long rear end define a ride character that is closer to a rigid drop-bar MTB than to an endurance gravel bike.

The result:

  • Extreme stability on gravel and rough surfaces
  • Strong confidence even when fully loaded
  • Intuitive handling, even for riders coming from MTB
  • Less responsive on tarmac, but with greater overall control

The new geometry resolves one of the limitations of the previous versions: a front end that was too compact and possible toe overlap.

Now the bike is more balanced, more modern, and more coherent with real-world use.

Reviews and positioning

The Vagabond has always been an “out of category” platform, but with the new generation Genesis takes a clear step toward the monstercross / advanced adventure segment.

It is a bike that:

  • Does not need labels
  • Is not built for pure speed
  • Prioritises freedom, capability, and robustness

It is the right choice for riders who find a traditional gravel bike limiting.

Intended use

  • Bikepacking, including loaded setups
  • Light to medium off-road use
  • Technical gravel roads
  • Exploration and long-distance travel

Not ideal for:

  • Fast gravel riding on tarmac
  • Performance / racing use

Size guide

  • XS: 156–164 cm
  • S: 164–172 cm
  • M: 172–180 cm
  • L: 178–186 cm
  • XL: 186–194 cm

These indications are general and should be interpreted according to body proportions and intended use.

The new geometry offers more front-end space than the previous version: riders who felt “compressed” on the old Vagabond will find better balance here.

We offer dedicated advice for size selection.

FAQ

Is the Genesis Vagabond a gravel bike?

Not in the traditional sense. It is a platform closer to the MTB world, designed for technical terrain, loaded setups, and adventure use.

What is the difference compared with a gravel bike like the Croix de Fer?

The Vagabond is more stable, slower on tarmac, and much more capable on demanding dirt. The Croix de Fer is more versatile and faster on mixed routes.

Is it suitable for bikepacking?

Yes, it is one of the most suitable platforms for demanding travel thanks to its stable geometry, wide tyres, and numerous mounting points.

Is it difficult to ride?

No. On the contrary, the modern and stable geometry makes it very intuitive, especially away from the tarmac.

Can I use it on the road as well?

Yes, but it is not its ideal terrain. It is slower and less reactive than a traditional gravel bike.
