It is the right choice for riders who want to build a versatile road-oriented bike capable of handling tarmac, secondary roads, white roads, and year-round use, with a fuller and more forgiving ride feel than an aluminium platform.

The Bombtrack Audax Frameset in Metallic Dark Brown is a steel frameset designed for fast endurance all-road riding, long-distance mileage, and light touring. A slim Columbus Cromor frame, a carbon fork, and a complete set of mounting points make it an ideal base for a real-world road bike: asphalt, secondary roads, white roads, and light gravel, with the option to add fenders and luggage.
Modern details such as internal light cable routing and an integrated rear light mount help create a bike that is clean, functional, and ready for everyday use or big days out in the saddle.

Intended use
Fast all-road & real-world road riding
Designed to roll well across many different surfaces, the Audax Frameset is perfect for long rides at a sustained pace, mixed routes, and roads that are not always perfect. The carbon fork improves comfort and precision, while Cromor steel delivers a solid and predictable ride feel.
Light touring and 365-day use
Rack and fender mounts plus light integration make this frameset a very sensible choice for fast commuting, winter rides, and light touring, without giving up a lively ride feel.
Wheel and tire choice (650B / 700C)
The Audax was designed around 650B wheels, but it also remains compatible with 700C within the stated clearances: the real difference comes from the tires and the type of terrain you ride most often.

Frequently asked questions about the Bombtrack Audax Frameset
Is the Bombtrack Audax Frameset a gravel frame or an all-road platform?
The Bombtrack Audax Frameset makes more sense as a fast all-road and real-world road platform than as a pure gravel frame. It is designed for asphalt, secondary roads, white roads, and light gravel with a lively ride feel suited to long-distance mileage.
What is the difference between the Bombtrack Audax Frameset and the Audax AL Frameset?
The steel Audax Frameset places more emphasis on ride feel, four-season use, and real-world road riding, with a more filtered and progressive response. The Audax AL is more direct, stiffer, and more clearly focused on fast all-road riding in a lightweight direction.
What tires can the Bombtrack Audax Frameset fit?
The fork accepts up to 650B × 50C or 700C × 35C without fenders. The frame goes up to 650B × 47C or 700C × 35C without fenders.
Is the Bombtrack Audax Frameset compatible with 650B and 700C?
Yes. It was designed around a 650B platform, but it remains compatible with 700C within the stated clearances. In practice, 650B is its most natural interpretation, while 700C makes sense for road-focused and faster-rolling setups.
Can you fit fenders, racks, and lights on the Bombtrack Audax Frameset?
Yes. The frame has rack and fender mounts, internal light cable routing, and an integrated rear light mount. The fork adds fender mounts and cage mounts, so the frameset works very well for clean and useful setups.
Is the Bombtrack Audax Frameset compatible with 1x and 2x drivetrains?
Yes. It supports 1x configurations up to 44 teeth with a 45 mm chainline, or 2x setups up to 53 / 39 teeth with a 43.5 mm chainline.
Is the Bombtrack Audax Frameset suitable for long distances and light touring?
Yes. It is one of its most natural use cases: long rides, fast commuting, light touring, and four-season all-road riding all fit perfectly within the frame’s logic.
What technical standards does the Bombtrack Audax Frameset use?
It uses an 86.5 mm T47 bottom bracket, 12 × 100 mm and 12 × 142 mm thru-axles, flat mount brakes, and a 27.2 mm seat post. These are modern and highly relevant standards for building a reliable and up-to-date bike.
