Short Description
The Hook EXT C Apex AXS is a high-performance carbon gravel bike built for fast rides, mixed-terrain adventures and multi-day trips, combining low weight with precise handling and modern wireless shifting.
Ideal For
Fast gravel and gravel racing.
Light adventure and bikepacking.
Mixed routes combining tarmac, gravel and dirt.
Long-distance rides at a sustained pace.
Riders seeking a modern, lightweight and versatile gravel bike.
The Hook EXT C offers very generous tyre clearance, with different limits at the frame and fork:
In 650B mode (not original spec), both frame and fork accept tyres up to 57 mm, allowing very high traction and comfort on demanding terrain.
In 700C mode (original spec), the fork goes up to 57 mm, while the frame is limited to 45 mm — this rear value is the true limiting factor and must be respected.
This unlocks several effective setups:
Fast setup: 700C with 40–45 mm tyres, ideal for fast gravel and long-distance riding.
Adventure setup: 650B with tyres up to 57 mm on a second wheelset, for maximum grip and comfort on rougher surfaces.
Front-biased setup: in 700C, you can run a wider front tyre (within the 57 mm fork limit) and a narrower rear tyre (within the 45 mm frame limit) to balance control, rolling efficiency and safety.

Frequently asked questions and answers about the Bombtrack Hook EXT C Apex AXS
What kind of bike is the Hook EXT C Apex AXS?
It is the fast & light interpretation of the Hook EXT family. It keeps the platform’s adventure character and stability, but adds a carbon frame and a quicker, more responsive ride feel.
What is the difference between the Hook EXT C Apex AXS and the steel Hook EXT Apex Eagle?
The main difference is use case and ride character. The C Apex AXS is lighter, quicker and more oriented towards fast rides and light bikepacking, while the steel Apex Eagle feels calmer, more structural and more natural with heavier loads and rougher ground.
Is it a travel gravel bike or a fast gravel bike?
Both, but with a clear fast-adventure bias. It can travel, yet it makes the most sense for riders looking for a dynamic, modern bike for mixed terrain and lighter adventures.
Does AXS make sense on this kind of bike?
Yes. Wireless shifting keeps the bike clean and delivers consistently precise shifting, which is especially valuable on long mixed-surface rides and regular use.
700C or 650B on the Hook EXT C Apex AXS?
With 700C it shows its faster, more efficient side. With 650B it can become more comfortable and more off-road focused. That flexibility is one of the bike’s strong points.
Is it suitable for bikepacking?
Yes, especially in a light to medium setup. The mounts on the frame and fork support tidy travel setups, but the model’s real character is more dynamic than expedition-focused.
Who is the Hook EXT C Apex AXS really for?
It suits riders who want a modern, light and precise Hook EXT, with more liveliness than steel and a stronger focus on fast adventure rather than heavy-duty travel.

¹ The bike size recommendation is intended as a general guideline to narrow down options based on rider height. Proper bike fitting is complex and should also consider additional body measurements and individual factors. Since no two riders are identical, these recommendations cannot be 100% accurate for everyone. The best way to determine your ideal size is to consult your Bombtrack dealer (info@bikejamming.it) or a professional bike fitter.
