Intro

The Genesis Vagabond Frameset is the most versatile foundation in the Genesis range for custom builds focused on adventure riding.

The new generation introduces a completely revised geometry, longer and more stable, combined with expanded compatibility options including MTB drivetrains, suspension forks, and dropper posts, turning the Vagabond into a modern platform open to virtually any configuration.

It is the ideal starting point for riders who want to build a truly custom bike, without usage constraints.

Performance and handling

The Vagabond frameset is designed to be adapted.

The geometry, with a 69° head angle, long rear end, and generous wheelbase, creates an extremely stable and predictable foundation, designed for:

  • Substantial loads
  • Technical terrain
  • Continuous use over long distances

Compared with the previous generation:

  • Longer front end
  • More usable space
  • Better toe overlap management

The result is a bike that is more balanced, more modern, and less “compressed”.

Platform and custom build

This is where the real value lies.

The Vagabond frameset allows for:

  • MTB drivetrains thanks to Boost 148
  • Rigid or suspension forks up to 40 mm
  • Gravel, monstercross, or touring configurations
  • Drop-bar or flat-bar setups

It is not a “closed” frame: it is a platform for building.

Intended use

  • Advanced bikepacking
  • Technical off-road riding
  • Long-range adventure
  • Custom projects

Not ideal for:

  • Fast gravel riding on tarmac
  • Pure road use

Size guide

  • XS: 156–164 cm
  • S: 164–172 cm
  • M: 172–180 cm
  • L: 178–186 cm
  • XL: 186–194 cm

Geometry identical to the complete Vagabond models → longer, more open riding position than the previous versions.

CTA

The Vagabond is an extremely versatile platform: with the same frameset, it can evolve into very different bikes depending on the chosen build.

It can be set up as:

  • a stable, load-capable bikepacking rig, with high-volume tires and very low gearing
  • an “aggro” gravel build, faster-rolling yet still highly capable off-road
  • a flat bar configuration, closer to a rigid MTB
  • a hybrid build, designed for mixed road and off-road use

This flexibility is the true strength of the Vagabond, but it requires coherent choices: components, gearing, and overall setup directly shape how the bike performs.

If you want to build a Vagabond truly suited to your riding, we can help you define a balanced configuration without unnecessary compromises.
