Intended use & possible configurations
Fast all-road & modern audax
The Audax AL was created as a modern audax bike, designed for riders who alternate long asphalt rides with sections of white roads and light gravel. The “rapid” geometry, with short chainstays and an engaging front end, keeps the ride lively and responsive, even when the bike is equipped with light bags.
Light touring & dynamic commuting
Thanks to the fender mounts and cage mounts on the fork, the Audax AL is ideal for riders aiming for a light touring setup, essential bikepacking, or fast year-round commuting. The build options allow you to choose between 650B wheels with generous tire volume or faster-rolling 700C wheels, within the clearances of the frame and fork.
One single bike for long mileage
If you are looking for one single frameset for long mixed-surface riding, the Audax AL offers a good compromise between efficiency on asphalt and confidence on rougher terrain. By configuring wheels, drivetrain, and cockpit within the stated standards, you can create a bike suited to brevets, audax, randonnée, and medium- to long-distance all-road riding.

Frequently asked questions about the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset
Is the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset a gravel frame or an all-road platform?
The Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset makes more sense as a fast all-road platform and modern audax bike than as a pure gravel frame. It is built to cover miles at a sustained pace on asphalt, white roads, and light gravel, while maintaining a quick and engaging ride feel.
What is the difference between the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset and the Hook Frameset?
The Audax AL is more focused on fast long-distance riding, audax, and medium- to long-range all-road use, with a stiffer and more direct aluminium platform. The Hook remains more clearly a fast steel gravel frame, with a more off-road-oriented character and closer ties to white-road riding than the Audax AL.
What tires can the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset fit?
The frame and fork state compatibility up to 650B × 50C or 700C × 35C without fenders.
Is the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset compatible with 650B and 700C?
Yes. In this case, the stated compatibility applies to both frame and fork: up to 650B × 50C or 700C × 35C without fenders.
Can you fit fenders and bags on the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset?
Yes. The frame has fender mounts, and the full carbon fork integrates both fender mounts and cage mounts. This makes it suitable for light touring, essential bikepacking, and fast year-round commuting.
Is the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset compatible with 1x and 2x drivetrains?
Yes. It supports a 1x configuration up to 42 teeth with a 45 mm chainline, or a 2x configuration up to 50 / 34 teeth with a 43.5 mm chainline.
Is the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset suitable for brevets, randonnée, and long-distance riding?
Yes. It is one of its most natural use cases: it was created specifically as a platform for fast all-road riding, long distances, and light touring, with modern geometry designed for efficiency and consistent pedaling.
What technical standards does the Bombtrack Audax AL Frameset use?
It uses an 86.5 mm T47 bottom bracket, 12 × 100 mm and 12 × 142 mm thru-axles, flat mount brakes, and a 27.2 mm seat post. These are important standards for anyone who wants to build a modern and reliable setup.
