Real-world use
The Ritchey WCS Carbon Adventure Gravel is a fork designed for riders who use their bike well beyond perfect tarmac: long-distance gravel, bikepacking, all-road riding and light touring with moderate front load.
It is designed to offer precise handling while reducing fatigue over long distances, keeping the bike dynamic even when the surface gets rougher or front luggage is added.
Multiple mounting points allow cargo cages, fenders, lights and lightweight touring setups, without turning the bike into a heavy expedition platform.
Available in straight 1-1/8" or tapered 1-1/8"–1.5" versions, the main difference is frame compatibility and, partly, the ability to accommodate larger tyres.
Differences between straight and tapered versions
The main difference concerns frame compatibility and overall bike setup.
Straight 1-1/8" version
- designed for frames with a straight head tube;
- more suited to traditional gravel bikes and updates to older frames;
- clearance up to approximately 700×48 / 650b×2.0";
- lower weight.
Tapered 1-1/8"–1.5" version
- designed for modern gravel/adventure frames;
- greater front-end stiffness;
- larger tyre clearance up to 700×52 / 650b×2.4";
- better suited to rougher gravel and slightly higher front loads.
If you are unsure about compatibility, we can help verify the correct setup.
Position, handling and comfort
The HMF carbon monocoque construction is designed to maintain precise handling without feeling overly harsh on long-distance rides.
The 393 mm axle-to-crown measurement (real fork height) makes it consistent with modern gravel and all-road platforms, helping preserve balanced and predictable handling.
The fork structure is designed to reduce fatigue caused by continuous vibration on gravel and rough tarmac, while maintaining precision on descents and faster sections.
Setup
This fork works best on:
- travel-oriented gravel bikes;
- light to medium bikepacking setups;
- modern all-road and adventure bikes;
- gravel conversions requiring cargo cage and accessory mounts.
Compatible with:
- cargo cages;
- fenders;
- internal dynamo cable routing;
- front lights;
- light to moderate front loads.
Compatible Ritchey headsets are available on request after compatibility check.
Important compatibility notes
Before purchasing, it is important to check:
- steerer type (straight or tapered);
- 393 mm axle-to-crown measurement (fork height);
- 12×100 mm hub standard;
- Flat Mount brake compatibility;
- available tyre clearance on the frame;
- real bike use and expected load.
A fork that is technically compatible on paper can still alter bike behaviour if geometry and fork height are not coherent.

FAQ RITCHEY WCS Carbon Adventure Gravel
What is the difference between the straight and tapered versions?
The straight version is designed for frames with a 1-1/8" straight steerer, while the tapered version is intended for modern gravel/adventure frames with a tapered steerer.
Is it suitable for bikepacking?
Yes. The side triple mounts allow cargo cages or lightweight bags for touring and bikepacking.
Can I use a dynamo hub?
Yes. The fork includes internal dynamo cable routing for a cleaner and more protected setup.
What tyre width does it support?
The tapered version allows up to approximately 700×52 or 650b×2.4", while the straight version is limited to around 700×48 or 650b×2.0".
Can I fit a lowrider rack?
No. The mounts are intended for cargo cages, lightweight accessories and fenders, not for traditional expedition lowrider racks.
Is it compatible with my bike?
It depends on steerer type, fork height, axle standard and frame geometry. If unsure, contact us before purchase.
