Positioning and riding philosophy
The SEIDO Magnon 700c is designed for a very different purpose compared to most lightweight gravel wheelsets focused on outright performance.
Here, the priority is not minimum weight, but the ability to support real loads, continuous use and mixed terrain without compromising stability or reliability.
The project is designed for:
fully loaded touring bikes
gravel expeditions and heavy bikepacking setups
taller or heavier riders looking for a stiffer, more stable wheelset
continuous long-distance riding across mixed terrain
With a declared system weight capacity of up to 150 kg (bike + rider + luggage), a 25 mm internal rim width, reinforced 32H triple butted spoke construction and heavy-duty build philosophy, the Magnon sits closer to a serious touring/adventure platform than to a weight-focused gravel wheelset.
Why choose the Magnon for real-world touring
When riding fully loaded, the challenge is rarely having the “fastest” wheel.
More often, what matters is having a wheel that:
remains stable with luggage and rough terrain
handles prolonged stress and vibration more effectively
reduces the risk of mechanical issues far from home
works well with higher-volume tyres
The Magnon uses Pillar PTB380 triple butted spokes with reinforced elbows, 3x lacing front and rear, and 6061-T6 aluminium rims with reinforced walls and an asymmetric profile — a combination prioritising robustness and reliability over extreme weight savings.
The result is a wheelset designed to keep performing when the trip gets longer, the load increases and the terrain stops being perfect.
Compatibility and intended use
This version uses:
12×100 mm front / 12×142 mm rear thru axle standard
6-bolt disc mount (IS-6 bolt)
Shimano HG freehub body
Tubeless Ready or inner tube configuration
recommended tyre compatibility: 40–60 mm
The 25 mm internal width works particularly well with higher-volume touring, gravel and adventure tyres, maintaining support and stability even at lower pressures and under load.
Important: before purchasing, always verify compatibility with your frame, fork, axle standard, braking system and drivetrain.
Who we recommend it for
Yes, if:
you travel with panniers or heavily loaded bikepacking setups
you want a robust and predictable long-term wheelset
you regularly ride gravel or rough terrain
you prioritise reliability and stiffness over minimum weight
Probably not, if:
you are looking for a very light and responsive wheelset for fast gravel riding
you use narrow tyres and racing-oriented setups
minimum weight is your absolute priority
