BOMBTRACK & MICROSHIFT

Per la linea 2020 Bombtrack ha annunciato una più intensa collaborazione con Microshift.

What started with the use of Microshift bar end shifters on the Arise Tour will evolve into a total of six models using various parts from the Microshift range. One of the advantages of most Microshift parts is their compatibility with Shimano mountain bike parts. This helps Bombtrack extend the range of some drivetrains. Below you’ ll find contents that show the difference between the MY19 and MY20 drive-trains. Another major Microshift advantage is the field serviceable ratchet and pawl mechanism on the clutched derailleurs, which can be taken apart and back together with nothing more than a multi-tool. The Audax Al will use Microshift’s top XLE11 groupset with 1x drop bar levers, clutched derailleur, and an 11-46t cassette. Mi-croshift will push their marketing efforts in 2019, so we expect to see more coverage on Bike Rumor, Bikepacking.com, The Radavist and so on.

BIKERUMOR, 20/02/18: "Wide range, 1x gearing isn’t going away any time soon. Instead, it is slowly expanding into more and more affordable drivetrains. [...] Compared to cassettes like their 10 speed 11-42, the new 11-46 uses 7075 T6 aluminum for the two largest cogs (40 and 46t). MicroSHIFT tells us that their manufacturing process stamps and forges the steel rings at the same time which ensures a strong, straight cog, while their Sliding Engagement Technology results in accurate shifting. Available in two versions, the higher end CS-G113 model uses an aluminum spider to reduce the weight. The CS-H113 uses a spiderless design which results in a less expensive, but heavier cassette.Offering 11-13-15-18-21-24-28-32-36-40-46 gear progression, the cassettes will sell for $60 for the spiderless CS-H113, and $100 for the lighter CS-G113, both available in April".

BIKERUMOR, 31/10/18: "Microshift adds 12-speed “Eagle” compatible thumb shifters & wide-range 2x: Want to add SRAM Eagle’s massive 500% range to your 1x gravel or adventure bike? MicroSHIFT has you covered with their all-new 12-speed “Eagle” compatible thumb shifter and bar end shifter. The two models offer options for flat bars or drop bars respectively, marrying the latest tech with the simplicity of a friction shifter system. Both parts can be switched between friction and index shifting, giving you the option for minute tuning of derailleur position, or just clicking it through the steps. Why add these? If you’re headed out into the wild, they’re simple and easy to adjust and repair. Or, at least easier than a SRAM drop bar lever. Cheaper, too…but pricing is TBD. Available later this year. The new MicroSHIFT XLE rear derailleur adds new range to their growing collection of Shimano-compatible gravel and adventure bike components. Paired with the same drop bar shifters introduced earlier this year for their 1x XCD rear derailleur, the new XLE version adds compatibility for the extra chain length needed for 2×11 systems. It keeps the same upgraded clutch mechanism as the XCD, just with more range. In fact, when you combine their 11-46 cassette with a 36/46 chainring combo, they say that’s a 566% range. The shifters and rear derailleur are Shimano Dyna-Sys compatible, too, so you can mix and match as you wish between the brands’ components. While the new adult derailleurs get stronger clutches for better chain retention, they also have a new “kids” derailleur with reduced spring force. This reduces shifting effort by a claimed 10%, helping those little fingers shift gears quicker and easier so they can stay focused on where they’re going”.

BIKERUMOR, 26/04/18: “SOC18: Microshift XCD derailleur plays nice w/ Shimano, Drop bar shifters also operate droppers: Microshift might not be the first brand you think about when it comes to drivetrains, but they’re continually launching products that may change that. After just launching their new 11-46t cassettes at Frostbike, now they have a rear derailleur to go with it. The new XCD RD-M785L is a clutched 11 speed derailleur with clearance for up to 47t cogs that as a bonus is also Shimano Dynasys 11 speed compatible. That means if you break off a pricey Shimano unit, the XCD could be a potential replacement at just $80. Granted, you can find pricey Shimano derailleurs online for much less, but that’s another story… Not only are the XCD derailleurs compatible with Dynasys, but they’re also compatible with Microshift’s trigger, bar end, and friction shifters for wide compatibility. Expect these to be available in early June. Along the same lines, Microshift will have a new drop bar shifter set tentatively called the Trekking 11 which is also Shimano Dynasys 11 speed compatible. Like other Microshift levers, the large paddle shifts one way, and the small lever above shifts the opposite. But on the left side, there is no small lever. That’s because this side is designed to work with mechanical dropper posts making it the first production shifter we know of specifically meant for the task. Expect the set to sell for around $190, and again available in early June”.

BIKEPACKING.COM: MICROSHIFT ANNOUNCES 12-SPEED “EAGLE” THUMB AND BAR-END SHIFTERS: While you might be familiar with MicroSHIFT for its unassuming bar-end shifters, the company has been quietly building a full drivetrain lineup over the last couple of years, much of which is targeted directly at the gravel bike segment. At the Taipei International Cycle Show this weekend, MicroSHIFT had two new 12-speed shifters and several other products on display. The most interesting, of course, is the MICROshift 12-speed bar-end shifter. For those wondering when 1×12 would be available for your drop-bar bikepacking rig, that time is now. The new MICROshift 12-speed bar-end shifter looks to function just like other bar-end shifters and can be paired with a SRAM Eagle derailleur and cassette. In addition, it can be switched between indexed and friction shifting.

The new MicroSHIFT 12-speed thumb shifter offers the same friction/indexed option and might be attractive to those looking for a simpler shifter mechanism that’s easy to adjust and repair in the field. It will probably be cheaper than most SRAM shifters as well, but pricing has not yet been announced. Both shifters are expected to be available later this year. In addition, MicroSHIFT announced the Shimano-compatible 11-speed XLE rear derailleur, aimed directly at the gravel and adventure bike market. Similar to their XCD rear derailleur released earlier this year, the new XLE features the extra chain capacity needed for wider 2×11 systems. It can also be paired with MicroSHIFT’s 11-46t cassette and brake/shifter levers. We’ll add pricing when we find out”.
